Managing a Traveller's Wardrobe

At the moment I am not working and we are on an extended stand-by (6 weeks and counting) for our next move.  This is the the perfect time to re-evaluate my wardrobe and put together a house "uniform" that is both comfortable and makes me feel good while I actively job hunt on my computer.

By carefully evaluating my wardrobe every season, I am able to travel efficiently and stylishly with one suitcase of seasonal clothes and one suitcase of off-season clothes.

My wardrobe review and purge checklist involves going through every item of clothing (socks and underwear included) and discarding or donating clothing  along the following guidelines:

  • It doesn't fit.
  • It is not in good condition (holes, tears or  warn-down fabric).
  • It has not been worn in the season.
  • I don't like the style, fit or fashion.

Deciding to give away or throw out clothing is always difficult because I become emotionally attached to certain pieces.  My history with the item of clothing "I wore this when..." or  "it was given to me by...." has kept me dragging things from season to season, year to year and yes, even decade to decade.  Another powerful emotion for clothing attachment is aspirational "I will lose weight and fit into the...." and "I will wear this to a special event, one day".

I like to look fashionable, and with the following wardrobe review each season I am able to add to my existing wardrobe to keep it up-to-date without spending a lot.

Six-Word Memoir Revised

I realized shortly after publishing my last post on October 31st that the words I used for my my Six Word Memoir were only a cohesive collection of descriptive words.  The meaning came from the words and not the sentence.
My intention here is to re-work my personal Six-Word Memoir with a descriptive sentence for the following areas of my life:

Me
Tethered to shore while river rafting.
Work
Bouncing down hallways curious and cool.
Love
Crackle and spark love energy lingers.
Family
I found you, you found me.
Today
I'm going where you take me.
Tomorrow
I will lead you to me.

I added the last category "Tomorrow"  to my personal Six-Word Memoir list because it supports one of my raison d'etre - personal life goal planning.
